Inventory pricing
Submitted by lyannib on Sat, 25/10/2008 - 10:35
I do the inventory and seem unable to calculate prices if they need to be a divided unit. It calculates if in a single unit. eg. a 50ml bottle, 50 units per bottle, unable to display total price of bottle then divide into cost and sell price of single unit. hope this makes sense.

RE: Inventory pricing
I think I understand what you are saying. Correct me if I am wrong.
You buy bottles of a particular product but sell by the ml. You want to calculate the selling price of your selling unit (ml's) using the purchase price of your purchasing unit (bottle).
Since the 1.2 update this feature has been available through the supplier tab in products and through the delivery and invoice workspaces in supplier system.
A product can have multiple suppliers. Each of these has fields for package size, units, list and nett prices and quite a few other settings. The most important one for this exercise is the auto price update checkbox. If this is ticked and the list price (the normal buying price ex tax) changes for the supplier either by manually editing it or during a delivery or invoice entry , the system will automatically divide the list price by the package units and update the unit cost price in any unit prices for the product. It then calculates the new selling prices based on markup and tax settings.
Now if the Nett price (price you actually paid for package) changes but list price doesn't no price recalculation occurs.
You will also note that you can have many suppliers for the same product and many different package sizes. Any can be used to do automatic price updates.
I hope this answers your question :-)
Cheers Tony

Cost price and calculations
Hi everyone,
This is great news. I didn't realise that Suppliers was off and running. Will be looking at this more and maybe thinking about migrating our suppliers cost prices across.
Great stuff!
