Sort Order Issue

Hi,

Not sure if this is deliberate or an accident but when we are in the Customers -> Information screen and try to sort patients by Details the sort order is not very sensible.

If you click "details" to sort it orders by the first number of the date, rather than a sensible date order (i.e. year, month, day)...

Basically if you are trying to order patients by date of entry then instead of getting:

20/10/12

01/9/12

30/9/12

You get:

01/9/12

20/10/12

30/9/12

I.e. it sorts off the first number in the date rather than the actual date field...

Is this simple to sort?

The software is working as it should...... it's just not giving you the results you seek.

The "Details" field is not a date field rather a text field consisting of a string of "Patient Owner"+date and as such sorts from left to right, thus:

There would need to be a separate date field display for date alone to enable you to sort by date. You're right, the data isn't particularly useful as it is currently presented.

I wonder if a report could be created to allow you to see the date order of entry of patients.

Hi Yuri,

This explains it. As you say, the data is not very useful as currently presented.

A report will not fix the problem as we are trying to use the patient list to track wildlife/strays/etc and so these customers accumulate a large number of patients and we don't have a good way to sort them by entry date and it would be too cumbersome to generate a report each time.

A better solution would be to change the functionality of the program.
