Stock Control - stock locations

Hi,
I am trying to organise our stock locations for stock control. As I am sure is the case for a lot of practices we have the same stock item in many locations.
How do we ensure that the stock is deducted from the correct stock location?
As a large animal clinic this is of particular concern for the vet’s vehicles, however we have the same problem with stock from consult rooms and surgery.

Currently I am only able to get stock to deduct from the products default location for a particular clinic. Ideally I would like to be able to link the workflow [schedule] with a stock location:

eg. Consult #1[schedule] – deducts stock from Consult #1[stock location].

Is anyone else having a problem getting stock to draw from various locations or am I missing a step somewhere?

Hi Mark,

The current version of OpenVPMS only supports one stock location per practice location although you can define multiple stock locations in the Organisation workspace.

When you change practice locations the current stock location changes to the default for that location as you have noted.

Support for multiple locations would need to be developed and discussion on how best to select during daily processing. Not sure the schedule -> stock location link would be seen as an option but worthwhile discussing on forums.

We have JIRA'd the development but depends on funding. Here's the JIRA

If you want to see it developed then suggest work with community to secure funding and then we can hopefully develop it for the 1.4 release.

Thank you everyone who has contributed to the "Support for Multiple Locations (Stock Control)" development project. The following draft of requirements has gone to the developers for costing and review.

Once funding quote has been acheived we will be inviting donations.
