Auto correct disable

Could somebody let me know as to whether the auto correct feature is able to be disabled? For example if i write that i gave a health check at 1pm the software automatically changes it to i gave a health check in the afternoon?

Re: Auto correct disable

Administration | lookups | Macro Search for "pm"

Edit and change code from "pm" to "@pm".

From now on if you want to say "in the afternoon", type @pm and it will change/"autocorrect" for you.

You may also want to change "am" to "@am" for the same reason.

See also http://www.openvpms.org/documentation/creating-and-using-macros for more information.

Re: Auto correct disable

We would like to actually turn off the entire autocorrect feature as we find it far more of a hassle than any benefit. Too many of the inbuilt autocorrects have more than one possible meaning - hr is used here for heart rate as well as an abbreviation for hour and NEVER "every  hour(s)", m - minutes or month, not "for  month(s)"  The fact that some of them remove attached numbers makes it a total liability ie 8pm changes to "in the afternoon" not "8 in the afternoon".

Add to that the fact that the average staff member is not a touch typist, and so is looking at the keyboard and not the screen so do not see the autocorrect take effect.

Changing them one by one would seem to be a tedious way of addressing the issue.

Re: Auto correct disable

Hi there could you please advise which version of openvpms you are using, the current default installation does not use pm / am macros it has changed these to @pm and @am to void this behaviour.

Even in the current default install it only adds about 40 macros.  Which even if you did want to delete them all would take around 5minutes of work.

ie Highlight them and press alt D and click Ok

Re: Auto correct disable

As Ben points out, your problem stems from your macro codes being too generic.

OpenVPMS will also propercase fields. If you don't want this functionality,  there is now a project to disable it at http://www.openvpms.org/project/add-support-enabledisable-propercasing
