Cheque Details - Save to client record

Hi - about to implement OpenVPMS and have a few observations - have checked through the forums and haven't found relevant topics

Will list them in separate posts so they can be dealt with individually.

On entering payment by cheque, is there any chance of having the cheque details save to the client record? Having previously worked in large animal practice where cheques are still a regular payment method having to re-enter details repeatedly would wear thin pretty fast.

It would also be helpful to have required fields before saving so someone in a rush can't save a cheque payment without entering these same details - just passing the problem along to someone else.

Re: New General User's Discussion Forum topic: Cheque Details -

Hi Jim,

What if the Customer could have Cheque details saved as a new item in
the Customers->Information section?
I have the following clarifications:

1. Would just one set of drawer details be enough? ie. Do most clients
pay with the same cheque book every time?
2. It would make sense that the process of entering cheque details
manually or for the first time, would update these details during the
Payment process automatically (ie. Not required to go into
Customer->Information->Cheque Details to change them)?
3. Say for instance a customer elects to pay with cheque and the drawer
details are automatically filled out from the stored details, if the
staff member changes those details, should it prompt the user to update
the stored details or just do it automatically?

Adding mandatory fields to the cheque payment is a good idea. I will
add to this project as an item if support forthcoming.

Cheers,
Matt C

Cheque Details - Save to

Hi Matt and Jim,

We could prepopulate the cheque details with the last used cheque details.  We woudln't need to store them in the customer details  just look for the last payment with a cheque payment type and use these details ?

As a matter of interest what percentage of users payments are cheque these days ?  I suppose it may vary depending on how many debtors you have and if you are large , mixed or small animal practice.

Cheers

Tony

Re: Cheque Details - Save to

Tony, 1.07% of all payments in our clinic are by cheque. This after a 3 year trend of declining use from 1.78% in 2008.

I can find this out because we use OpenVPMS. :)

By the way, not visibly storing the cheque details is fine by me provided Jim is happy to store just the last entry. I would also guess you would support no prompt if the details were changed? (I would).

Cheers, Matt C

Re: Cheque Details - Save to

Hi all,We have not had any cheque payments since we started 3 months ago so this is not a relevant issue for us, or most small animal practices I would think. However, if OpenVPMS wants to be able to assist large animal / mixed practices, it would probably be a helpful addition to the program. Would depend on the financial support of those practices. Cheque Details - Save to

Storing last checque details would do very well.

Since moving from country (lots of cheques) to city (hardly any) it is not much concern here, but country clinics tend to have a lot more posted out accounts, and hence cheques posted back. EFT is definitely taking over, but still lots of cheques.

Hi guys,

This topic has had a development project created here http://www.openvpms.org/project/save-last-cheque-details-customer

It is currently "Under Discussion". Further expressions of interest will ensure it goes to the developers for review at the end of the discussion period and prevent it being Stalled..
