PDF document store ?

If you have handouts which are PDF documents (and were built with Microsoft Publisher), then it is possible to attach the PDF to an email to the customer.  However, the PDF must be available from the user's workstation.

Is there a mechanism that would make the PDF available on the OpenVPMS server?

I looked at and played with loading a PDF as the content to a document template - I wondered if I gave it the pdf and set the document type to Patient Form, whether it would recognise that it wasn't an odt or doc or jrxml and simply spit it out - but it complained.

Any suggestions - apart from putting the PDFs on a shared drive available all workstations. [Note however, that this does not work for remote users like the housecall vet or myself.]

Regards, Tim

Re: PDF document store ?

As far as I am aware at the moment pdf'S cannot be attached as a template.  The Template processor cannot recognise them

You could use cloud storage - shared dropbox or shared google drive (or if you utilize a google apps domain then it creates team storage.

Alternative, I know atleast 1 other user has been chasing the ability to add pdf's as forms/letters.

Re: PDF document store ?

Thanks Ben -I think that the project you are referring to is http://www.openvpms.org/project/link-pdf-documents-products

However, I am not sure whether this is the full answer. Let us say that we have a general 'after surgery' handout, which is normally given to the customer when the patient is collected.  We do not really want to go and have to link every surgical procedure product to this handout.

Rather what is required (and it may fall out of the project) is the ability to create a patient 'document' that contains a PDF and behaves in the same way as a patient letter or patient form currently does - ie is available for adding to the patient documents and/or emailing.

Re: PDF document store ?

The document would attach to the practice location archetype?
