Clinician lookup/naming

In the practice that I am converting, the vets want their names to show on the labels and printed documents as "Dr Joe Bloggs".  Hence their 'Full Name' is set as "Dr Joe Bloggs" - and their Login Name as (say) JB.

This means that where a clinician needs to be selected one needs to enter 'dr j' to identify the clinician.

However, if there is also a "Dr Joe Smith", then the clinicial selection is slower - either you enter 'dr joe b' or 'dr j' and then choose the required one on the Clinician Select screen.

Is there something missing in my setup that would make the clinician selection faster/more automatic?

It would be nice if the clinician select also searched the login id, then one could just enter 'jb' to select Dr Joe Bloggs.

Regards, Tim

Re: Clinician lookup/naming

I used to have Dr as prefix to clinician name and found it was a PITA when I had a temp locum for the same reason that you've ennunciated above.

I now use name and degree as clinician and that way it's generally a one-touch to get the clinician: ie "j" <enter> gets  "Joe Bloggs BVSc MRCVS V1234", "k" <enter> returns "Kevin Koala DVM MACVS N4321" and so on.

If I had two "Joe"s, the most senior Joe would get the Dr, then "d" <enter> would get "Dr Joe Smith BVSc" etc.

Thanks Yuri - I will see what the practice manager thinks.  Regards, Tim
