Transfering Patients

Morning All

Can anyone tell me is there a way to transfer patients in the scheduling from one column to another ie from one vet or consult room to another vet or consult room without having to delete the appointment and re entering in the new column. You are able to do this is the worklist it would be great and time saving if you could having a transfer option in scheduling.

Thanks Joss

Re: Transfering Patients

Hi Joss,

Think this is a good idea and probably well overdue for everyone.

There are a number of ways to do this of course. 1. Transfer button. This would be Ok but it would need to ask for schedule and or date to transfer to and this generally wouldn't facilitate a user being able to view available appointment times on other schedules , views or dates before they move. 2. Drag and Drop. More technical solution but has a drawback in that you can't use across dates and views easily. I.e. would be Ok for same days, same view but not other scenarios. 3. Cut & Paste. My preferred option. Highlight and cut an appointment. Navigate, check and do whatever you want until you are ready to paste and then paste. Application will automatically transfer all details to new slot you select changing only times, schedule etc. You could even do other things between the cut and paste

Thoughts ?

Cheers Tony

Re: New or updated comment for General User's Discussion Forum t

I agree Tony that cut and paste is probably better than drag and drop.

Having worked with systems that drag and drop previously it has it's drawbacks- You can't drag and drop onto something that you can't see. It's great for moving from 1 appointment spot to the next if they are both on the screen but what about moving to the next day or week? If you cut it you can then visually go to where you want it to be and then drop it in with paste- much simpler in my opinion.

Transfering Patients

Hey Tony

What i would really like to be able to do is if a client rang me and said they had an appointment at 3pm in consult 1 or Vet "lala" and wanted to change the appointment  and the next appointment is only avaliable, another time, in another consult column or  with a differerent vet, i would like to go into that appointment and transfer it into another vet or consult coloumn. You can change the time of the appointrment in the same column but you should be able to have a transfer or move button to be able to move with in the schedule between vet/consult rooms  without having to delete and re-enter the appointment. i hope i have explained ok,

                                                                                                       thankyou jocelyn

Re: Transfering Patients

Hi Jocelyn,

Yep, understand. Just providing a number of options on how we would implement this.

Transferring appointments is a little different then transferring tasks between work lists and hence I am proposing a different approach. The later does not require any thought about available times as they just move from one list to another.

Lets expand on your scenario. Suppose a customer with an appointment today at 3pm rings up and wants to reschedule to another day preferably around the same time. To do this using the transfer button approach we would first have to search for an appropriate free appointment slot that suits the customer and then go back to today's schedule and select the appointment, hit Transfer and enter appropriate schedule name, date and time.

I am proposing that instead of this approach we select appointment, hit a special Key (Cut) and then we can navigate through the appointment schedules, days etc until we find the appropriate suitable slot and select the slot and paste. The appointment details as they were are automatically entered into the selected slot except schedule and time modified appropriately.

Cheers Tony

Transfering Patients

Hi

Im all for the cut and paste.

Jocelyn

Transferring Patient Project Progress Report

This project has been created in Jira (jira.openvpms.org/jira/browse/OVPMS-899) and is awaiting costing.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the project. The cut and paste option was the winner in the end.

Once costing has been determined, everyone will have the oppurtunity to pitch in pledges to make it reality!

Cheers,

Matt C

Appointment transfer funding

Sandra @ Bellarine Hi Matt, I've clicked on the jira but can't see the costing of this, what was the estimated cost for this project? Just trying to work out how much we can contribute and trying to keep track of amounts already pledged to other developments. Just a reminder to those that have been on OpenVPMS for a while and to let the newcomers to OpenVPMS know, Bayer has allowed clinics to use their Bayer Accelerate points to contribue funding to new developments and enhancements within openvpms.  I have tried to copy a link below for more info, hope it works if not you could do a search on bayer on the forums and find it. www.openvpms.org/forum/idea-how-users-can-help-fund-openvpms-developments-without-putting-their-hands-their-pockets Sandra.
