Anyone using OpenVPMS in the US? Are there system integrators of this software in the US?

RE: Anyone using OpenVPMS in the US?

Hi,

We have had a number of US users and developers participate in the forums but I am unsure if anyone has actually started to deliver integration services or installed OpenVPMS in a practice yet. No US subscribers at present.

Cheers Tony

Re: Anyone using OpenVPMS in the US?

Now I'm not an expert on these things but from what I understand, the partly fleshed out bones are there for anyone virtually anywhere in the world to adapt OpenVPMS to their country's requirements - tax rates, address elements, data security etc. In our 14 vet practice the software is working admirably. It copes well with the data load, database size and fulfills all of our present needs. Because the database is non-proprietary we can get information out of it (and put it back in) using external utilities as well. Of course we, like everyone else have a wishlist of functions we would like to see in the future. I imagine that all it will take is for a group of practitioners and/or developers to get together and decide to customize OpenVPMS for the US and it could be achieved in a very short time. Peter

Just found you

I own a US based IT managed services/hosting organization that provides services to a large multi-practice nation wide network of Veterinary Hospitals.  recently we have taken into consideration the idea of developing a new open source based vet practice management software (until I found you today - that may have all changed...)  Your project interests me greatly and I would like to learn more, up to and including perhaps running a copy for demo purposes at our site.

Our business model is to host practice management servers in our data center and provide remote managed services to our customer base.  Right now this is working well with non-web-enabled applications, and I imagine that your application would make our job even easier.  We are interested in providing the hosting services to US customers along with application support.

Will anyone that can speak to the opportunities/challenges/readiness of this software for the US market be attending NAVC in Orlando in January?  If so we should talk before the show.

Thanks --- Pete
