Which MYSQL and Tomcat for 64bit OSs

Hi all,

I am doing a few trial installs to become familiar with the product.

Starting with Server 2012 R2 essentials 64bit as the OS,

I have not run test with detailed notes yet, but the impressions I got were;

Installing 64bit MySQL and or 64bit Tomcat did not work for me, without investigation further, I just left it there and tried;

Installing 32bit MySQl and 32bit Tomcat, worked a treat...?

Is this what is expected, or do people routinely have 64bit MySql and Tomcat running?

Hopefully once I get standards setups that work for this system I will provide documentation and it would be ideal if group input could record examples of working setup options. These are already available to a degree but I did not notice any emphasis being placed on the 64bit or the 32bit versions for MSql and Tomcat.

So I am not sure if I should persist in trying to get the 64bit version of MySql and 64bit version of Tomcat to work.

Thanks in advance.

Colin

Re: Which MYSQL and Tomcat for 64bit OSs

It should work fine, and given the ability to address more memory, should be the preferred deployment scenario. What problems are you seeing?

Re: Which MYSQL and Tomcat for 64bit OSs

Thanks, I will give it another go, since it should work. Welcome news.

I will get back with details if there are any problems.

last attempt, I just did not want to waste time on 64bit when it had problems since I could find no evidence at the time that 64bit mysql and tomcat were either ok or not.

BTW, that raises the issue of OpenVPMS having two versions, as in 32bit version and 64bit version??? Is there any thing to know there??.

Thanks

I will try not to hit the save button twice this time

Re: Which MYSQL and Tomcat for 64bit OSs

OpenVPMS is a application servlet that runs via JAVA.  Java is rather like a inbuilt OS (I wouldnt be suprised to see a javaOS if there isnt one already, Tomcat runs on JAVA and takes care of memory addressing for applications that use it.

Thus there is only 1 version of open and it works in 32bit or 64bit.

You just need to install the correct versions of mysql and tomcat.
