Backspace

I presume it has been reported before but OpenVPMS has this annoying bug where using the backspace key deletes everything you have just spent ages entering. It only seems to happen in certain fields and so annoyingly intermittent that I am not certain which ones or whether they are consistent. It has certainly arisen with Order entry, history entry but also various other areas.

Is there a fix coming or is this a Firefox issue

Re: Backspace

Hi Nick,

Could be one of two things depending on what is actually happening on screen.

1. If hitting backspace is actually taking whole screen back to different workspace or screen when you first login to OpenVPMS then the backspace is being interpreted by the browser and performing a Back arrow function (previous page) in the browser rather than a backspace in the field you are editing.

Solution: Make sure the focus is in the field when hitting backspace. If it does happen hit forward arrow on browser and your screen should reappear. Development. Somehow disable back arrow function in browser or assign another key in browser setup.

2. If hitting backspace and focus is definitely in data entry field I would suggest that you have accidentally selected all the text and on backspace the selected text will be removed. This could happen if you hit Ctrl-A (select all) for example rather than Alt-A for Apply. And then hit backspace.

Solution: Type Ctrl-Z to undo backspace and text should re-appear.

Cheers Tony

Re: Backspace

My experience of this one is that it happens in the data entry field when you hit backspace twice in a row. I will try hitting ctrl-z twice if it happens again :-)
